Intel Pentium E6700 is an evolutionary upgrade to Pentium E6xxx line of microprocessors, which was launched at Q2’10.The clocked speed of the processor is at 3.2 GHz, or one step above previously fastest socket 775 Pentium E6600 CPU. At that time, before Intel launched the next member of dual-core Pentium family-Pentium E6800, Intel E6700 is the fastest Pentium-branded CPU. Like all other E6xxx CPUs, the E6700 features 1066 MHz Front Side Bus frequency, shared 2 MB level 2 cache, Virtualization technology and streaming SIMD extensions up to SSE3 and Supplemental SSE3. First Pentium parts with S-spec number SLGUF had core stepping R0, and may work in older socket 775 boards without BIOS upgrade.
Performance-wise it is positioned against currently top model in dual-core AMD Athlon II family – Athlon II X2 260.
